About

Got a thing for crackling fireplaces, award-winning foodie treats and plush interior decor? We’ve got a feeling you’re going to like it at Walwick Hall. Set in a Grade-II listed Georgian mansion, this boutique bolthole boasts just 10 bespoke bedrooms along with a chic glass-walled spa, for a country house hotel experience with a decidedly modern twist.

Located just moments from Hadrian’s Wall, its heart-of-rural-Northumberland setting offers horizon-stretching views over the rolling hills of the Tyne Valley. As such, the hotel makes a great gateway for reconnecting with nature in mile upon mile of beautiful countryside.

But while you’ll feel like you’re a million miles from anywhere, the shopping and nightlife of vibrant Newcastle are just 30 minutes away, while the market towns of Hexham and Corbridge are right on the hotel’s doorstep. History lovers can step back in time at fascinating former-Roman stomping grounds at Chesters, Housesteads and Vindolanda, all within a five to 20 minutes’ drive.

Here on an overnight stay? Check-in, then chill-out because Walwick Hall has so many ways to help you unwind. Sporty types will love the gym, pool and tennis court, while country pursuits such as hiking, shooting and cycling are yours for the taking. The relaxed yet refined two AA Rosette-awarded Dining Room will satisfy those hungry for a gourmet break, or just head to the glitzy bar or sunny Terrace for post-spa cocktails.

But for those who live to lounge in snuggly robes and slippers, there’s nothing to stop you from just drifting around the dreamy spa. Pamper with a Germaine De Capuccini or Natura Bissé ritual in the zen-like treatment room. Take an exhilarating dip in the unique glass-walled pool. Or just drift away in the jacuzzi as you soak up the starry skies and panoramic views.

The Spa & Wellness at Walwick Hall Hotel

Sink into serenity at the glass-walled pavilion spa at Walwick Hall Hotel in Northumberland, a place where only the very best will do.

Pad your way across the hotel’s private walled garden and let your journey into self-care begin. While those floor-to-ceiling windows are a modern contrast to Walwick Hall’s Georgian splendour, they blend seamlessly into the enchanting landscape beyond.

Take a moment to breathe the scented air as you put on your snuggly robe and slippers. Bring your book for poolside lounging, but chances are you’ll spend more time gazing out on that view across Walwick’s own private garden towards the Tyne Valley beyond. In darker evenings, there’s nothing more magical than having a dip while looking out onto starry skies.

Flit between the different thermal experiences on offer. This sumptuous sanctuary includes a steam room and a warm, bubbling Jacuzzi.

The zen-like treatment room offers a selection of rituals from Natura Bissé and Germaine de Capuccini designed to spoil you, whether you’re seeking beautiful skin or inner calm. Apply the final finishing touches to your spa escape with a mani/pedi or beauty treat, then float out of the spa, glowing from top to toe.

The Gym & Fitness at Walwick Hall Hotel

Unless you’ve got a will of iron, sticking to your fitness goals while you’re on a decadent spa break can be tough. But the spacious fitness suite at Walwick Hall will make you want to take a few moments away from all the splurging, pampering and treating yourself. No, really!

The fully-equipped mirrored gym and exercise room will see you sculpting and toning like never before. Kitted out with the very latest in TV and sound systems, the air-conditioned space makes working out a breeze, whether you’re on the treadmills, rower, weights, weight tables or cross-trainers.

Prefer to exercise out in the fresh air? We hear you. Take a relaxing stroll through the estate, or bring your hiking boots and head further. Northumberland is England’s least-populated county, with all the space and freedom that implies. The most north-easterly part of England has sweeps of near-empty beaches and rugged countryside offering outdoor adventures to exhaust the most energetic.

The Hall is situated right on the edge of Northumberland National Park so there’s plenty of interesting things to see and do that don’t even involve getting in a car. And, if you’re feeling adventurous, the hotel can suggest places nearby to go river fishing, horse riding, hunting and shooting, too.

Restaurants & Food at Walwick Hall Hotel

Ultra-indulgent spa breaks need ultra-indulgent eating and drinking options to match. Luckily at Walwick Hall Hotel you’ll find the food is every bit as fine as the spa treatments.

The Dining Room

The star of the show at Walwick Hall has to be its two-AA-Rosette-winning restaurant. Refined yet relaxed, the food is just as full of character as the elegant decor. A talented team of chefs use ingredients grown in Northumberland or in the Hall’s own kitchen garden. Enjoy classic British cuisine, seasonal menus and all-day dining - just make sure you leave room for an indulgent dessert.

The Drawing Room

Sink into a squashy sofa in the relaxed Drawing Room. Savour the open fire and pretty bay window that looks out onto the Tyne Valley. Then scoff, socialise and sip on afternoon tea served with speciality coffee, Newby loose leaf tea - or something altogether more blond and bubbly.

The Bar

With all the plush, exclusive feel of a private club, the hotel’s contemporary bar is so inviting you won’t want to leave. Welcoming and inviting after country walks or a spa session, pull up a chair by the open fire or sit up at the bar and enjoy handcrafted cocktails or a fine selection of gins.

The Terrace

On hazy summer days, nothing beats breakfast, dinner, drinks or afternoon tea out on the spacious terrace. Take your seat outside and work your way through the impressive cocktail menu as you watch the sunset over the surrounding Tyne Valley.
