You’ll find Walwick Hall Hotel in Northumberland, set back from what is known locally as the Military Road which runs between Newcastle and the Cumbrian border. The hotel sits on the line of Hadrian's Wall in the tiny hamlet of Walwick. Hexham, the nearest town, is a ten-minute drive away.

It doesn’t have a dress code as such, and the Dining Room is very relaxed. But during the evening, most guests choose to go smart casual.

It is. The spa is wheelchair accessible, and there are accessible toilets and bedrooms in the hotel which can be accessed via the lift. 

It is. While treatments at the spa are for those aged 16 and over, children can splash in the swimming pool before 10 am and between 5pm and 7pm when they’re accompanied by an adult.

Sorry, it isn’t. Dogs are not allowed on the hotel premises, but there is an option should you not be able to leave your four-legged friend at home. Walwick Hall also has four self-catering suites at Chesters Stables which are fabulously dog-friendly.
