Or crush your fitness goals with a group class. There’s a weekly calendar to sweat your way through, from super-fun Zumba and challenging box fit to more serene pilates and yoga.

Restaurants & Food at Oulton Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort

Indulge yourself with all the heavenly food experiences to be had within the opulent surrounding of Oulton Hall. With its cavernous ceilings, sweeping staircases and elegant chandeliers, butler service means you’ll feel just like the nobility who used to live within these walls.

Each one of the hotel’s restaurants and bars has its own unique atmosphere, from the sparkling Champagne Bar to the traditional elegance of the Drawing Room.

Champagne Bar

Thought nothing could make you change out of your robe? The Champagne Bar will make you want to put your glad rags on. Like a step back into a more elegant, sophisticated time, you can sit up at the bar for a signature cocktail or keep the bubbles going at an intimate table for two.

Calverley Grill

Escape the hectic pace of everyday life at the hotel’s main restaurant. The restaurant takes its name from John Calverley, who was gifted the original manor house in 1807. Decked out in dark wood, there’s subdued lighting. And the menu is just as stylish, with contemporary classics like haddock and chips given a modern twist. Remember to leave room for dessert or a cheese platter.

Claret Jug

The newly refurbished Claret Jug has a laid-back setting and a sunny terrace with gorgeous views over the course. Named after the British trophy at the Open Championships the “19th hole” is the perfect place to refuel after a round, or enjoy a casual dinner.

Drawing Room

Time for tea? Head to the elegant 18th century Drawing Room for dainty finger sandwiches, bite-size cakes and fresh scones, all served by a butler. Enjoy a pot of tea to wash it down, or opt for a suitably boozy alternative.

Myself and my partner decided to treat ourselves to a last minute one-night stay at Oulton Hall. Our package was great value for money and our stay was absolutely lovely. The spa staff were very friendly and our treatment was gorgeous - highly recommend the revitalising ritual! Our evening meal and breakfast were also delicious.

We had a lovely spa break, was comfortable, relaxing with really clean facilities. We would have just preferred if there was a hot option for lunch instead of just cold bites.

My experience of the spa was good the staff was so friendly and welcoming. The activities the sauna pool, gym, Jacuzzi was amazing enjoyed it all. My treatment was excellent,Caitlin and Daniele were amazing during the treatment. The lockers were a problem, wasted about 15 mins changing from one locker to another. However the food was awful and extremely disappointing as a vegetarian there was no choice of food aside for salad in different formats. Was only allowed one choice of drink with our food which was also very poor. I had eaten nothing because lunch was not enjoyable. Paying £297 for 3 adults I was expecting something a little better.

The treatments themselves were lovely, can't fault them. But there are extremely limited spaces to relax after treatment and service the cafe / bar is very sparse.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Oulton Hall do afternoon tea?

It does. And if you thought there was nothing better than afternoon tea, what about afternoon tea served by a butler in the opulent surroundings of an 18th century drawing room?

Sink into the upholstery, admire sweeping views across the park and delve into the tiers or your silver freestanding cake stand. We won’t spoil the surprise too much, but expect a few nods to Yorkshire here (Yorkshire rhubarb scone, anyone?). Wash it down with tea, Hendricks gin or a glass of Moët, all served with impeccable silver service.

Does Oulton Hall have a swimming pool?

Yes, there is a small swimming pool in the Oulton Hall health club. With a tranquil ambience, it’s 13m long, so big enough for some laps or a spot of Aqua aerobics.

How far is Oulton Hall from the city of Leeds?

Oulton Hall may overlook acres of rolling, peaceful grounds, yet all this opulent splendour is just six miles from the bright lights of Leeds city centre. You’re perfectly placed to enjoy the buzz (and the retail opportunities!) the city has to offer.

What type of room can I book in Oulton Hall?

You can opt for something sleek and contemporary or go for something grand and traditional.

Rooms in the hotel’s modern wing were all refurbished in 2022, Classic rooms offer the ideal stopover, while Deluxe or Superior rooms are more spacious and have options for families.  For special occasions where only the best will do, book a room in the original part of the historic manor house. These sophisticated Suites have glorious views of the gardens, golf course or surrounding countryside, along with period features and luxurious touches like Elemis toiletries.

Is Oulton Hall accessible?

Yes. Oulton Hall has two purpose-built accessible rooms, along with lift access to all public areas throughout the hotel. Leisure facilities are found on the first floor with easy access and offer a dedicated accessible toilet and changing area, as well as a wheel-in shower room with drop-down seat and grab rails. There’s level access poolside, with steps and a handrail into the shallow end of the pool.

What time is check-in and check-out at Oulton Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort?

Check-in is from 3pm, but if you arrive early and want to drop off your bags while you explore, they’ll happily store them at reception. The hotel can sometimes offer early check-ins on special request, if rooms are available. When it's time for you to hit the road again, check-out time is 11am.

Is Oulton Hall family friendly?

From their special children’s menus to family swim times, Oulton Hall is a very kid-friendly venue. Children under 16 can even stay for free when they share your room. Enjoy some quality time in generously-sized family rooms - with a cot for very young guests or a Z-bed for slightly older ones - or give young teens their own space in interconnecting rooms.

Children under 16 are not allowed to use the gym, have a spa treatment or join you in the jacuzzi, sauna or steam room, but they can splash in the pool daily, between 8am and 10am and 4p to 6.30pm. Teens between 16 and 18 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

Got a budding Tiger Woods in the family? Children are welcome to play golf with you on either of the golf courses. However, the pro-shop reserves the right to restrict play depending on the age and skill of the child. An adult may be required to accompany under 16s.

If that’s not enough, the hotel is perfectly positioned for some child-friendly activities at Cannon Hall Farm, Eureka! or Go Ape at Temple Newsam.

Is Oulton Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort dog-friendly?

Oulton Hall isn’t just dog-friendly, it’s hound heaven. Fido can stay for free and eat with you either in the Great Hall or on the terrace, and they even provide beds, bowls and treats.

You can bring two small dogs or one large dog to stay per room, completely free of charge. Dogs are only allowed in selected hotel rooms, though, so it is important to mention you’re bringing your furry friend at time of booking.

Does Oulton Hall have a golf course?

Yes, the 27-hole golf complex at Oulton Hall is extremely well groomed, and the pretty views over the fairways can be appreciated whether you’re a golfer or not.

There’s also a 16-bay driving range complete with Trackman technology, a practice putting green and a golf shop to find your ideal set of clubs. Whilst the course is challenging enough for pros, don’t let that deter you from giving the sport a go, as Oulton Hall remains firm on the fact that the golf course is available for every skill level.
